Linden Hills Chamber Orchestra is a non-audition orchestra for adults with orchestral experience.  If you are a musician interested in becoming a member, contact the  Recruitment Coordinator to confirm that there is an opening for your instrument. You can then make arrangements to try a rehearsal with the orchestra. Even if there is no position currently available, do send your information. The orchestra can get to know you and then add your name the orchestra’s list of players to be contacted for future openings or substitutions.

Rehearsals

The orchestra’s season is approximately the same as the Minneapolis Public School year, from September through mid-June. Regular rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:15 p.m. in the band room of Southwest High School (unless otherwise notified). The school is located at 3414 West 47th Street, Minneapolis, MN (at the intersection of West 47th Street and Chowen Ave. S.). A parking lot is located on the west side of the building, off Chowen Ave.  Enter through door #5 on the west side of the building. The band room is up the stairs, on the second floor of the west building. Street parking is available, but some of the streets are restricted to residents who have permits, so please carefully observe the parking signs.

Performances

The LHCO performs concerts free to the public. Three different concert programs are performed in November, February, and  April. One or more of the programs often involves soloists from the Minnesota Orchestra and the University of Minnesota. Concerts are scheduled for Thursday evenings; dress rehearsals are on the prior Wednesday evenings. In addition, the orchestra performs  outreach concerts at  residential care facilities during the season. In May and June, the orchestra performs  bandshell concerts at the Linden Hills Neighborhood Festival and the Lake Harriet Bandshell.

Dues:

The operating expenses of the LHCO are financed primarily though member dues. Currently, the dues are $75 per semester ($150/year).
